1 Samuel 10:5-7
After that you shall come to the hill of God where the Philistine garrison is. And it will happen, when you have come there to the city, that you will meet a band of prophets coming down from the high place with a stringed instrument, a tambourine, a flute, and a harp before them; and they will be prophesying. Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man. And let it be, when these signs come to you, that you do as the occasion demands; for God is with you.
Musicians prophesy. The Levites in the tabernacle of the Old Testament were not only those who ministered unto the Lord with instruments and offered sacrifices, but they were also cleaners, gatekeepers, leaders, and they prophesied. King David formally instituted prophecy to musical accompaniment, along with praise and worship, in the Tabernacle of David. We read in 1 Chronicles 25:1-7, “David, together with the commanders of the army, set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun for the ministry of prophesying, accompanied by harps, lyres and cymbals”. Even the Prophet Elisha valued musical instruments to facilitate an atmosphere for prophecy. Second Kings 3:15-16 states, “Now bring me a minstrel… While the harpist was playing, the hand of the LORD came upon Elisha and he said, “This is what the LORD says…”
There are many instances in scripture where music and prophecy are linked. Therefore we are convinced that we (and you!) are not just musicians, or songwriters, or singers, and composers, but we are those who prophesy with our instruments. We believe that those who have the honor of leading God’s people into His presence have the great delight and ability to release His sound on the earth. Musicians, you are picked to carry the ark on your shoulders, you are not just singing pretty songs!
1 Samuel 10 paints a picture of what happened when Saul encountered a band of prophets coming down from the high places - he was changed into another man. As a band of musicians, a band of prophets, we believe the same for you. As you encounter the Spirit of God that is produced from the sounds released by heaven, glorifying Jesus Christ, you will be changed. As the sound is released, hearts are changed and eyes are opened. As the sound is released, those with sleepy spirits begin to awaken. With these truths in mind, know that we do not take our positions lightly. Our desire is that each person who listens to one of our songs or is in the room with us encounters the real and living Jesus.
Every song that we release has come from spontaneous moments and prophesies from Holy Spirit as we seek the Lord together. We desire to stay pure in heart with clean hands and the fear of the Lord as our guide. We humbly write and say what Holy Spirit instructs as we create atmospheres where Jesus sits enthroned and visits us with the weight of His glory.
We are not just a group of people playing and singing songs to feel good. We are simply those that have said YES to seeking the Lord and have purposed to tune in so that we can hear what heaven is releasing. In turn, we release what we hear because we want to partner with Jesus in what He is doing in the earth today.
We are a Band of Prophets with a fiery passion to release the sound.
Band of Prophets was birthed in Cookeville, TN from a group of friends gathering together once a month to to minister to the Lord with no other agenda.
As we gathered together, Holy Spirit began to release melodies and words through our musicians that have deeply shaped and impacted us. With the weight of the sound being released, Band of Prophets was birthed as an extension of THE WELL COOKEVILLE in order to steward these moments.
